A Statement from ESCAPE

We ask anyone interested in this matter to read the facts, do their own research, and make an informed decision. This is important to us because our reputation is our most valuable asset—and because this situation has led to unacceptable behavior. Recently, an individual who had only watched the Froehlichs’ video made serious threats against one of our employees, forcing us to seek a cease and desist order. The safety of our people is our highest priority.

About ESCAPE
We are proud of our skilled team, our rigorous quality standards, and the thousands of satisfied customers who have chosen us over the years. Every ESCAPE RV unit is built in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to meet or exceed RVIA standards and is inspected by independent third parties before leaving our factory.

Facts About This Situation:

1. The Froehlichs did not purchase their RV unit from ESCAPE

They bought a 2018 unit  from a private seller, “as is” and with no warranty. We were not aware of the sale,    and they did not contact us before purchasing or have us inspect the unit.

2. The home passed all inspections when it left our factory.

We have no record of any issues reported by the original owner. We understand the unit was left unoccupied for extended periods, including winters, before the Froehlichs purchased it.

3. We worked extensively to help them.

We exchanged many emails, provided technical guidance, and in April offered to buy back the unit. We later made a second offer. Neither offer was acknowledged.

4. The Tyvek claim is false.

All of our homes we presently manufacture use Tyvek house wrap, as shown on our website. The Froehlichs knew this before producing their video, as they had emailed us these same photos. Their unit, when manufactured used a different wall system and met all industry standards, which explains why their unit did not utilize Tyvek.

5. Damage is consistent with freezing.
Photos they provided show damage typical of a unit left without heat or maintenance during freezing conditions. The Froehlichs have acknowledged this possibility, and independent commenters have agreed.

6. Threats and false statements are unacceptable.
In correspondence directed to Escape, the Froehlichs suggested they would spread their video further unless we resolved the matter to their satisfaction. Our attorney has advised this may be a violation of Wisconsin’s extortion statute (Wis. Stat. § 943.30). We will consider taking all legal steps required to protect our people and our reputation.

Moving Forward
This is the first situation of its kind in our decades of business. We remain committed to helping both new and used ESCAPE owners enjoy utilizing their Escape units. We invite anyone with questions to contact us directly or visit our factory to see the quality and care in every unit we build.
